Menyiapkan pernikahan

Well, Nes and I have finally settled in. We’re staying at Nes’ parents’ house in Bandung. Their neighborhood is situated atop one of the foothills of Bandung’s surrounding mountains. From the roof, you can see down into the valley that the city occupies. The weather is beautiful—high seventies and partly cloudy. Heaven compared to what we left in Minnesota, yet everyone keeps apologizing about it. “It’s rainy season right now, it’s usually much nicer” they’ll say. Everything is relative I suppose.

We’ve been busy running around town finalizing wedding plans. Yesterday we met with the florist and picked out flowers, bouquets, and corsages. Today we’ll meet with the band and reception emcee. Yes, you need an emcee for wedding receptions here. From videos I’ve seen of Nes’ friends’ receptions, they’re quite a show. Not exactly our style, but it’ll be interesting. We were able to talk them into downgrading from fireworks to confetti canons though—just to give you an idea of what we’re dealing with here.

Tomorrow, we’ll head to Jakarta. Nes will visit the US embassy to renew her visa and We’ll pick up my parents from the airport. Right now Nes and her mom are out running errands, so I have a few hours to myself.

  1. What no fireworks! Oh well… Confetti canons will do… You know a canon that fired both fireworks and confetti would be the coolest thing ever or one heck of a fire hazard. Glad the weather is nice!

  2. Yes, I think it is difficult for the likes of Alex and myself to imagine this type of wedding planning. Allison will get a kick out of the fireworks. I hope Don is planning on shooting some video for the rest of us back in the US!

  3. 70 degrees! Oh, you poor babies. It was 13 below yesterday morning in beautiful downtown Bemidji. Enjoy and take lots of pictures. (I wish I was there, but Beth and I are leaving Sat. morning to stay with Grandpa Dinger for a couple days.)

  4. I have decided I am starting a pool to get those fireworks for your April affair here… you are going to regret not getting them!

I think you guys need to plan a slide show for all of us westerners who are having a hard time fathoming the whole day’s events. I think it is going to be amazing!
I can’t wait to hear more about your adventures!

  5. Not sure what kind of video you’re interested in Jeff?! Submit suggestions…

  6. I talked with Grandpa this morning and he had just finished talking to Grandma. He said she was having a great time shopping but, he is a little concerned because she has their credit card.

    Have a GREAT wedding!

  7. Hah! Don’t worry about there being a lack of video or photos—everything will be thoroughly documented. It sounds like there will be a whole crew of photographers and videographers following Nes and I around all day starting from my hotel in the morning to the reception in the afternoon. We’ll return home with plenty to show :-)

  8. I guess you’re off the hook Mr. Dinger. You’ll just have to sit back and enjoy the wedding. Which, now that I think about it, has concluded. Congrats from us all back here in CST!

  9. Your parents must be loaded! Their home is so fabulous!
